Turns On Tuesday: October 1 2019

by Marc Schmid on October 02, 2019

Is it officially winter?  No of course not, but we would like to think so after this week!  While it was doom and gloom in Hood River, the upper elevation of Mount Hood was delivering inches of snow each day to give us just enough for a Tuesday turn on snow.

We left the parking lot around 8am giving us some fresh sunshine and blue bird skies to make our way up.  Pepi slapped his skins on while I grabbed a set of snowshoes from our rental center.

The snow was pretty epic, making the mile hike up more manageable.  As we got close to our destination the snow started to thin out.  We had to take some notes on snow depth and mark the rock piles on our way up.

Once at the top of the run, we took a breather and were ready to charge some fresh white stuff. The run was awesome - of course a bit of clanking on some rocks but totally worth the work!
